This is the run’s 39th year and has always been historically successful with over 40,000 participants each year. You must register to run in the race but your registration fee can be donated to a number of different charities including the American Cancer Society, American Association for Cancer Research, Fairmount Park Conservancy,  Students Run Philly Style and Back on My Feet. In fact, 39 teams and 663 participants have raised over $350,000 for the American Cancer Society, exclusively!

If you are motivated to join in this run you can find more information about how to enter through their website at broadstreetrun.com.  Also on their website are training articles and videos that will help you prepare for the 10-mile marathon. Lincoln Square apartments will be perfect for training for the marathon. With a large outdoor fitness area which includes a running track, you can train for the run with your friends, family, and even your dog if you want!

Make sure to bring your family with you to the race even if they are not participating to cheer you on. Children can even have fun during the day before the Broad Street Run at the Philadelphia Navy Yard at 7 in the morning. There will be caricature artists, face painting, inflatables, petting zoo, balloon artists and even a mini-run called the Dunkin’ Munchkin Run. Kids of all ages will love everything that has to do with the Broad Street Run.

The course starts at Central High School Athletic Field at Broad Street and Somerville Avenue. You will be running on Broad Street past many different Philadelphia neighborhoods. Music groups, high school bands, cheerleading squads, church choirs, and drill teams will be there alongside your family to cheer you and the other participants to the finish line at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.
