Labor Day Weekend

Summer gets a suitable send-off this Labor Day weekend with loads of incredible events at both indoor and outdoor attractions citywide in Philadelphia.

Residents and visitors alike descend on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway for the impressive Made in America music festival on Saturday and Sunday.  One of Philadelphia’s biggest music festivals hits the Benjamin Franklin Parkway for another year of live music from some of the biggest names in hip-hop, EDM, rock and pop. The festival weekend is jam packed with performances by Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, Meek Mill, Diplo, Zedd, Alessia Cara and more.

Labor Day weekend also brings the last few days of the season for the fun-filled Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest. Head to the Delaware River waterfront destination by Monday — its last day open of the season — for boardwalk eats, craft beer and cocktails, roller skating, mini-golf, arcade games and the 60-foot-tall Ferris wheel.

Explore Philadelphia’s multifaceted maritime history at the Independence Seaport Museum, located along the scenic Delaware River waterfront and open all weekend long. Stop by Deck — the museum’s pop-up beer garden — for top-notch views of the Delaware River, drinks, live music and fun for the whole family on Friday and Saturday. Nearby, Admiral’s Tavern — a pop-up beer garden on the historic Cruiser Olympia — is another superior place for craft beer, cocktails, wine, games and music on Friday and Saturday as well.

Both spots provide great views of the Labor Day Fireworks show on Saturday. They will be popping off after an entertaining end-of-summer concert featuring the U.S. Army Band Downrange at Penn’s Landing. This festive fireworks show, hosted by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation illuminates the sky above the Delaware River to commemorate Labor Day and is a not to be missed, long standing Philly tradition.

Also, every Labor Day weekend, the Canstatter German society in Torresdale hosts a three-day Oktoberfest party with crafts and lots of German food and beers in a jovial setting. And, if that’s not enough to keep you busy, a cultural festival and sustainable living celebration takes over the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing on Sunday.

There’s plenty to do in Philly over Labor Day weekend, so chill out at your Lincoln Square apartment, invite over some friends & family and enjoy the outdoor amenities before and after checking out the festivities throughout the city.
